I just installed a (used) lockright into my XJ's dana 30. Because it was used, it didn't come with instructions (YouTube to the rescue).
It’s locking and unlocking nicely, but I was wondering if someone could give me the recommended gap between the center halves? I measured mine (using feeler gauges) at 0.180”.
All info below is from the installation manuals for a Dana 60 and AMC 20. Both manuals are the same so............
"Should be about 5/32" (.156" or 3.86mm). Tolerance limits are between .145" (3.68mm) and .170" (4.32mm). If it's much over .170" either the case is quite worn or the thrust washers are missing or are too thin. Problem should be corrected before using."

Yes, that's the dimension for all of their products, AFAIK.
Thanks everyone. As I said, I didn't have install instructions so had to wing it and 0.180" seemed wide to me. I threw a spare 0.030" shim into it and now it's sitting at roughly 0.157" (rough check with feeler gauges).
