Lockers for xj
Hey guys im getting into this wheeling hobby and so far its just a stock xj. Finally got a hitch and a ball mount receiver Im getting a bumper on tuesday and I also got some lockers in mind. Problem is Im new to all of this so i need your help guys.
I read about aussie lockers, launch box, detroit lockers ect. Not really sure how each one works just yet. Im interested in the aussie locker because its within my budget.
First of the xj is my daily driver and I do some light trail riding in different weather conditions, rain, snow, or shine.
I heard that if I do buy an aussie I should put it in the back and i read that its locked at all times but it unlocks while going into a turn or when you let of the gas.
For now im thinking about getting one aussie locker. Should i put it in the back or front ? Supposodly in the front it can cause over/ understeering and its bad in winter.
Anyway if you guys could clear it up for me it be nice. If some one could explain why i should lock the back or the front and what happens in snow. If I go off roading in snow will the aussies do good ?
Okay im getting a little ahead of my self. I dont want to ask to many questions at once so i dont confuse myself and you guys.

id put a lunch box locker up front go with either a aussie or a spartan locker there really good and bout the same on price....the reason id put one up front first is bc if ur front tires go ur rear will follow in most cases....and a lunch box locker is made to let one tire spin faster when turning

ah okay, so aussie in the front kinda makes sense cause it will be disengaded since on street i drive in 2 wheel anyway. Now how do those aussies work ? I read that they are torque driven and some people say its speed difference such as cornering.

In short. When a lunch box locker has power to it, it will lock up and turn both tires together. When it has no power to it, it will unlock allowing the tires at different speeds.

When I had F&R lunchbox lockers in my TJ I could tell it was there in 2wd It wanted to rip the steering wheel out of your hand when turning into a parking spot ! That's why I went with an ARB in my YJ, and My XJ will also get an ARB up front
