I dont believe you have to remove the carrier for most or all rears.

For the dana 30 you do.

No, not really.

Installed quite a few in D30's....never had to pull the carrier.

ok.. sorry about that.. remember seeing some aussie/spartan installs in a d30 on youtube and they pulled the carrier out..

agreed. i've had mine in for about a month and i've gone on one good run with it so far, really made a difference. but i hear you on the backlash, clunks all the time. i think if i had an auto it wouldn't be such a big deal, but with my stick it clunks between every shift pretty good. for now i will live with it, and it does do it's job off road well.....but i see a selectable going in at some point in the future.

Thanks for all the input! I'm thinking I might end up with the powertrax no slip for now , I'm not real excited about noises and clunking , but I really can't afford to put gears in right now so I would hate to put in a new carrier like a trutrac and not do gears at the same time.
