Lift question. D 35 to c8.24
Hello everyone. My buddy is selling a rusty's 4.5" XJ lift for his D35 XJ. I was thinking about buying it, but I have the 8.25 axle. Would this lift still work with my 93' 4.0 4wd XJ? It's such a good price, I almost bought it without even checking what axle he had prior. I've never attempted a lift, but I know most parts are very similar. Just don't want to waste $ on a lift that won't work. Thank you

All you will need is a set of u bolts for the 8.25. Possibly a sye kit. I'd first install the lift & then see if you need the kit.
You can bend or relocate the brake lines or buy new ones.

That's the lift he has. It's just for the Dana 35 bit the 8.25 so I'm just real paranoid.

Paranoid? Why? It has a option for the 8.25. But u bolts are the only difference.

That's a good buy as long as it's not an AAL and all the others are correct only need new U-Bolts as they are a different size. Look on Rustys web site to see which kit that it is and what comes with it. Most of the time you need an adj. track bar and a HD Dbl. Shear one is a VG idea.
You may need to add an SYE also with that lift as I needed one with mine the same as yours almost.

So, finished the lift. Took two days. Wow,I don't mud or go through water with this XJ, and the previous Owner was old, only had 86k miles on a 93, but my god, every bolt was stuck. Too basically 8 hrs to do the front. Couldn't get anything off on the drivers side. Guess that's what happens in Nj when they salt the streets each winter. Everything else went well. The kit came with an adjustable track bar, steering stabilizer, two coils, shocks, t case drop (I know I know, but I don't off Road) and lower control arms, the works. Definitely gotta change out my shackles, didn't do them yet, ran out of time. The Jeep is definitely raised!
