the reason its counter productive is because it lowers the transfercase and the crossmember an inch or so lower and that lowers youre clearance you gain with a lift a little bit but if youre not doing much offraoding you should be fine

I would say yes but your center of gravity will be raised.

I'm at 4.5" with 31's on rims with a 4" bs. Honestly its handles pretty good. I've got some steering box issues but it corners flat and as long as the front swaybar is hooked up there is very little body roll

I guess I'm not like most others that will do all they can to cram the biggest tires possible on. I've got 32's on a 6.5" lift and didn't trim at all. They've got plenty of room to flex, but when I get new tires, I'll be getting 33's. I agree with the 4.5" lift on 31's by far. It'll look great and won't be crazy. You won't have to trim, I've got a buddy that's ran this setup for years and it fits fine. I ran 30's on a 3" lift for a while and they fit fine on the stock rims though I did rub sometimes on the lca. If you don't want to trim, get a slightly smaller than recommend tire. But it's true, once you lift, inchitis sets in. I started with 2 and now I'm at 6.5 lol.

I have 4.5-5 in that area 31x10.5 with a lot of back spacing and drop brackets no rear sway bar and discos on the front. I have rustys flex flares and trimmed flares. I rub a little on fender. I have good handling though I've drifted it going 60mph on dry pavement and came out fine. I would say the rear sways a lot maybe to much when I take a corner. Leave your rear on if you want better handling but it might screw your stock rims up and dent your unibody up a little if you flex it.

Im at 5 inches and some 31 inch km2s. I have full coils and full leafs and really crappy shocks but it doesnt ride awful. Id suggest a 4.5 inch lift 31s or 32s and some bilsteins. As far as lift brands you can't beat ome...2nd would be Rubicon express. Get some decent wheels with about 4 inch backspacing and you'll be set.

Maybe I'll just stick with a 3" & 31's... I don't feel like messing with transfer case issues. I know if I got into it, it would HAVE to be a proper job via SYE. I'm just OCD like that.

Are these pretty much the standard wheel size?

or these?

I don't really know what a 4.5 bolt pattern is. I thought it was just a 5 bolt pattern? I want some back spacing... Get the wide look going. Also want it to fit 31x10.5's.

Get the RE 3.5 super ride kit. It'll raise it about 4.25 and looks great. It fits 31x10.5 just fine with
room to spare on stock ecco rims. Invest in the RE adjustable track bar, bracket, t case drop and a set of monotubes and you'll be riding well. None of that RC crap. Spend a little extra now and you won't have to worry about it down the road.

The OEM bolt pattern for your jeep is 5 on 4.5" This means 5 lugs on a 4.5" bolt circle. The 4.5" measurement is taken center to center of 2 adjoining studs.

A 10" wide wheel is too wide for a 31" tire. A reputable tire shop won't mount a 31" tire on a 10" wheel.

Also,
Free shipping on all RE XJ/ZJ lifts at Serious OffRoad until the end of the month.

So I want the 10x8 wheel w/ 31's.

Maybe you'll be doing some more promos come this fall? I won't be touching a lift until I'm sure I know what I'm doing, and have the funds for everything I'm going to need to do the job right.

It will take you plenty of places. I've taken my XJ up a few trails when I've had people tell me you need 5" of lift and 33's to make it up them an to expect body damage. I made it up every trail with no issues While sporting a 3" lift , 31" tires, rear locker, And rock sliders. I made it up them all with no damage , An I avoided every bypass ! If you have a good spotter, an know how to pick a line you will surprise people .
Agreed and that's setup looks super clean! Anything bigger just looks like a raw offroading machine!! Which is sick but may not always be what you want! This is my setup for now. RC 3" N2.0 and BFG 31x10.5 r15

lift or not to lift that is the question?-image-3129111673.jpg

Good luck!!
