Default lift install

Hey... I'm getting ready to finally put a lift on my 2000 Cherokee. I live in Michigan so everything is rusty and I will most likely be breaking or cutting bolts off. I ordered the rough country series 2 3" lift with full leafs. Does anyone know what size the shock bolts, leaf spring bolts, or whatever else hardware I'm going to need?

If you break the shock bolts off, drill the mount and use a bigger bolt. As for the leaf spring bolts, go to the dealership and order them. Use a ton of heat on the front leaf spring bolt so you don't break the weld nut off.

Just soak them in PB blaster for a few days and use a torch on em and you should be okay!

I think the leaf spring bolts are 14mm x 2.0 pitch x 120mm- pretty hard to find. You can probably order them from Fastenal with a flange bolt/nyloc or whatever you want to put them. I think the dealer charges quite a bit. My lift came with new ones.

I think (once again) the shock bolts are M8x1.25 x 25. But like BN said, Just drill/tap them to whatever you want or knock them out with a punch (pretty easy) and use a lock washer/nut.

Ian is right stuff like that i hit with pb blaster a few times over days before i take it apart. It does help letting the stuff soak in and loosen the rust off the bolts.

Thanks for the help. I started with the pb blaster on Monday and have continued daily.... But with my luck nothing ever works out the way I wanted it to. I was hoping I could just swing by the tsc store and pick up some grade 8 bolts and throw at it but looks like I will be stopping at the dreaded dealership lol

You got off to a good start on your own, PB blaster I but 6 cans at a time I hate to run out and with an XJ in the garage about everything is rusty.

It was 2 days of hell but I finally got the lift in. The only thing it's lacking is sway bars. The end links on the front broke taking them off and the rear I just took off. It actually rides nice. Surprisingly soft so far. I have a little drive line vibration and it needs an alignment but I'm happy with it. Thanks for the help

This is one of the good things about living in Kalifornia.... I swapped out my 3.5" lift last Wednesday for the old 2".. Took grand total of 2.5 hours, and didn't even have to pull the wheels off.

Must be nice ^ Rust belt stinks. To the OP we all feel your pain (those of us that fight the white stuff that is). BP, BP, then use some more BP, we replace any and all bolts we can since most of them snap anyways. Post up some before & after Picts.

Thank goodness it was a warm weekend. It's 45° out right now in Michigan and it's supposed to snow tonight. I would way rather be somewhere hot..
