Lift for a '99 XJ Sport
I have purchased a Rough Country 3" lift kit and have a couple of questions....
Please direct me to threads that can answer or answer directly if you have the information.
On the front of the Jeep, there is a shock ? inside the coil spring. There is also a shock ? located towards the rear of the wheelwell. Dumb question, which shock is the one that needs to be replaced with the new coils ? Seems to me that both of them should be replaced, but the kit only comes with one.
It's got me stymied right from the start and I haven't even put a jack under it !
Thanks.

show us a picture of the "shock" in the coil spring. There shouldn't be one there unless it is aftermarket.. only a bump-stop. In any case, The ones in the kit are for the shocks outside of the coil spring

Thanks for the replies .... to the both of you ..... now I know that it is a bumpstop and the proper one to call a shock is on the outside. Much appreciated.

Just so you know. The function of a bumpstop is to keep the suspension from over-compressing. As well as keeping your tire from rubbing on the fender.

I just realized my comment came across pretty rude... haha it was not my intent. Good luck on your install and welcome to the forum!
