Default Leaf spring retainer pin and u-bolt plate

OK was chatting with a Jeeper friend, and he was concerned about my leaf spring install. My new Rough Country leafs came with a slightly larger bolt, one that didn't fit THROUGH the retainer plate. So, my plate is sitting ON TOP of the bolt.

He said this is wrong, and I need to drill out the centering hole so the plate sites flat on the leaf.

I told him this was the way it was when I took off the original suspension .. the plate was sitting on top of the button, not flush with the leaf. He said, there's no way ...

So, who's right? I have to re-do my install anyways, because the 3 deg shim provided by Rough Country is causing vibrations and bad pinion angle at 3" of lift.

Ya, you'll have to drill the plate out. Step bit works great

Drill it out. I had to do that for my RE lift. It's really easy to do.
