Kind of newb rear end question
Here's my situation: I've got a 2001 Cherokee with an 8.25 in the back. I want to put a Detroit limited slip diff In there before the snow starts falling here in KY. I was browsing CL and ran across a 29 spline 8.25 out of a 97 that has a rear disc upgrade already on it, and a nearly brand new set of Yukon 4.56's in it.
Can I put that limited slip in that axle with those gears? I think it would be a rad project to build the axle up and slide it in one weekend. One of my Toyota buddies thought maybe a limited slip wouldn't work with that gear set. I'm pretty green as far as exactly how all those bits work back there.
Thanks

I don't really plan on going any bigger than 33's. I figured the LP wouldn't be that big of a deal. From what I've read, a locked and geared LP30 should take 33's pretty much no problem. I mean, perfect world, sure. But in a perfect world I'd probably be on a 44 front anyway.
Am I mistaken on this assumption?

In my opinion yes I would not waste the money on it and the gears will not fit in a HP model either but each to his own. A good HP is not that expensive from a JY or craigslist I bought a spare for mine from a wrecked 98 for $100 with all new seals and brakes on it and it was out ready to pick up.
I'm running 33's and 35's now on my HPD30 and stock axles 4.56 gears not ideal but haven't broken it yet, do carry a set of spare axles for everything.
