Default Jeep XJ - which lift should i choose?

hey guys! im new to this site. and im sorry if this has been posted before but i did look back a good ways and didnt see it anywhere. i have been wheeling/off-roading for 15-20 years now. i just recently purchased my first jeep. 1991 XJ. its all bone stock. 273,000 miles -YIKES!!!- but it runs awesome and has plenty of power. i bought it dirt cheap just to make a fun lil toy out of it... anywho, I will stop rambling on. Just have a quick question. I am wanting to lift it 3 inches. and on the cheap! i have found a few companies with the 3 inch coil spacers up front and shackles/add a leafs in the back. my qustion is what brand should i buy or does it matter? and the most important question... add a leafs or shackles. i have lifted several vehicles myself but never a jeep and never by shackles. i know it seems logical to think that add a leafs would be safer and less prone to failure. and also a lil longer to install. just wanting to here what everyone has to say about it! any ideas? thank you in advance!

Cheap, Rusty or Rough Country

I dream of running a OME setup one day... Or a IRO long arm kit...

but should i go with the add a leafs of the shackle kit? i know the shackle kit would be easier and quicker to install but is it more prone to failure? i dont plan on doing any hardcore wheeling in it... i was just curious if anyone had any bad experiences with either? thanks again

Sure the brand matters. There's some really crappy lifts out there that are a complete was of your hard earned cash.

A lot matters on your stock setup. With that many miles a coil spacer and shackles will about get you back to stock height due to sag. Replacing the coils with taller ones and leafs with full packs will yield a better lift or an actual gain in height. If you do it cheap , ( I just went through this) you will replace one thing at a time until you have spent double what that 3"kit cost. Just my $.02...

^^^^^ X2 Do it right and do it once!! Right doesn't cost more, it ends up being less money b/c your doing it once and it serves as a platform to build off of.
