Looking to find some help on doing some type of shim to the hood, near the windshield. Help release some heat during hot summers as my Jeep runs hot, also for when your out on the trail. Have seen it done, just need information. Curious about the cons of this.

There are other options I am aware of, Not looking to put hood vents in.

 

Upgrade your cooling or put in hood vents. Rice is not the answer.

 

Planned on doing this too. I think im going to use one inch shims.

As far as cons, Ive heard alot of people say that if you get in a wreck the bolts will shear and the hood will come through the windshield. I call BS, there are alot of cars were the hood comes over the wiper cowl. My family owns a wrecker service, never seen it happen.

 

You loose 100HP for ****ing ugliness.

 

The majority of the hood vents i see look much more ricer than a tilted hood lol.

 

If you do it make sure you take some before and after temperature measurements.

 

Maybe I should upload a photo of my XJ and see the decision, hood vents would not go. Would ruin the look of the vehicle, way to nice.

 

exactly what my friend did with his honda he used a stack of washers and longer bolts lol

 

I put in a half inch spacer the other day. No change in temp at all. I plan on taking it off soon cause i'm not a fan of the look
