Default Jeep ran perfect yesterday and wont crank today!

My XJ decided it didn't want me to drive to class today so it decided not to crank. Not just not turn over but not even crank. The battery is fine because the radio and heat and everything comes on, just no cranking. Not even a sound. I wanna say it's the starter but I'm hesitant because it's never given me problems before and I've never known a starter to just give up a few hours after driving it. Could be a multitude of things. Cam sensor, starter relay, starter itself, so on so forth. Anyone got advice on what it might be before I pull the starter and bench test it?

I had my started die after a two hour drive let it sit for an hour or so and went to drive away and it would not start. My issue was the link between the started and the solenoid broke. Fixable if you have the time and tools on hand but I just bought a new starter.

Test power to the starter before you pull it off. Its more then likely some sensor.

Take a hammer and hit the starter, it will probably start. Mine does that all the time now that its getting cold and my last jeep did it. I would just have to give it some taps and it would crank over.

Must be "old" around here, cause you gave an ******* response like alot of people here do.

But yeah Id lean towards it being the NSS or the starter itself.

Fwiw I didn't think this was a dick response at all. He just means that similar threads pop up all the time and seems like 9 times out of 10 its the nss. LOL.

yeah, i wasn't being a dick. sorry, bonehead. it was tongue in cheek.

look at all my posts and tell me if i'm as much as a dick. sorry, bonehead as you. then get back to me.

anyways, the no start as you mentioned quickly relates to the nss. very rarely is it a bad starter compared to nss symptoms.

but i hope you find it soon.

check to see if your reverse lights come on, that's another symptom of bad nss.

goodluck.

sorry, that post seems like i was a dick. lol

really i'm not. i do try to post helpful advise and never troll.

anyways, hope the op gets his jeep started.

you can also try to jump the starter leads with the key in the run position. if it starts, then it's not the starter and again, leads to the nss.

beware tho, there may be sparks.
