I was referring to the bottom of coil. The last wind is flattened out to seat in the flat coil bucket. With the suspension under load it may not be an issue, but at droop the coil will be fighting that stupid spring retainer.
Some have heated the coil to flatten it but I understand a torch is bad news for spring steel.

Hi yall i am new to the forums here but i have a 2000 XJ an love it, 5 vehicle i owned an i'm 22 lol anyways i been looking into putting a 3'' lift in my XJ from rough county with new leaf packs, shocks, coils, and lower control arms. An been wondering on what tire size i could run on it i found a good deal on 33's but i don't want to hurt my trans with it being a daily driver. An should i get adjustable stab links, and track bar? Any info would be a great help i have been doing a a lot of reading on here an I see that everyone does is it differently so i guess its all about personal preference?

Looking for some expert help here. I have a 99 Cherokee with 208k that I just bought 9 months ago. Leaf spring packs were shot, so I went to 4 Wheel Parts and bought the OME 2" lift kit and had them install it. Now, the thing looks like a dragster. The XJs rear wheel wells are about 2.5" taller than the top of the front wheel wells when measured from level ground. Should I throw some spacers at the front coils? 4 Wheel Parts says the leaf springs will come down, but in the meantime the rig looks weird. Anybody got any quick fix to getting these new leafs to calm down?

Loading the cargo area with bricks or blocks overnight may help 'settle' the leafs. Is there an extemded shackle on the leafs?

No, no extended shackle. Thanks, I am going to try to add some weight to the rear as suggested.

Hey everyone....looking to lift my 97 xj in the next month or so... I'm building on a super tight budget. I'd like to lift somewhere around 2.5 inchs. 2 would be ok. I'd like to go 3 but I know ill more than likely need a drop pitman arm....and extended brake lines and that's really pushing my budget. I don't like most 2 inch kits....I don't want a coil spacer....I'd rather have a longer coil spring.... Can anyone recommend a kit for me... budget is $400.... $500 max. My xj is a daily driver and weekend warrior with 178, 000

Wrong place to post this but, since were already here, I will help. You don't need to extend the front brake lines at 3", just straighten the hard line and it will be fine. As for the rear, get a $15 rear soft line for a YJ. You don't need a drop pitman arm at 3" either. If your budget is $400-$500 I would buy pieces individually from Craigslist and other places so you don't have to settle for a crappy rough country lift.
