Jeep cherokee XJ 2001, boostwerks linkage
Need your expert advise guys
I have 2001 Cherokee XJ, recently installed boostwerks linkage (231) on auto transmission.
4lo works well, but it will not engage in 2hi. Tried to re-adjusting it but to be honest I don't really know what I'm adjusting.
Please help!
Thank you,
Daus

Well the linkage is nothing more than a mechanical attachment between the shift lever and the tab on the transfer case. The goal is to make it the correct length so that the shift tab on the t-case is in the correct position when the shift lever is thrown to where you want it.
A word of caution; when I set my linkage I adjusted the 4hi location so that the shift lever was butted up against the shift bezel in the 4hi location. What I found to happen was as the drivetrain moves under load the lever wants to come back slightly further but it could not because the bezel was stopping it. This caused 4hi to not engage fully and eventually started grinding gears badly. I'm not sure if I smoked my 4hi gear or not because I haven't used it since.
Once you find the sweet spot on the adjustment it should be trouble free. I love my linkage. Shifts from 2 into 4lo and back like butter.
