Default installing add a leafs to lifted leafs?

heres my problem - when i bought my xj, it came lifted with 33s. its passed ownership through several of my friends (that should have been a red flag) and no one can tell me how much lift is on it, although ive been told about 4".

heres the real issue, i think its got lifted leafs, however on one side, 2 of the leafs have cracked and broken off and they no longer distribute the weight along the length of the longer leafs.

$300 for new leafs is a bit out of my range right now, so i was wondering if i could throw on an add-a-leaf for now to at leas replace one broken leaf and maybe add more load capacity.

will this theory work?

i will eventually replace everything, i wanna get 4.5" leafs, shackles, coils, long arms...the list goes on and i need new tires. you see my situation now.

i just wanna know if i can use the add a leafs for a while, i dont wanna add a lot of lift though, cuz im not replacing the coils yet and im still running the short arms and the handing is horrible on this thing (needs much steering work)
