Last night I installed my JCR front bumper. When I make drivers side turns I hear a soft grinding coming from what sounds like the passenger side front.
I assume since I removed the steering box bolts something in that area is the source.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I would start?
I could put it on stands and have my wife run the truck and turn the wheels. I would like to hear if anyone has had issues like this, though.

I also removed my steering box bolts when I built my bumper. I do not have grinding.
can you elaborate on the grind a little more? does it sound like the tire possibly hitting a wrap around style bumper at lock? or more like maybe something still has some play in it and the steering box is potentially twisting into the unibody?
check the steering box spacer behind the box where it bolts in, make sure a chunk didnt fall out when you removed the bolts, mine came out in pieces when I did, so I made my own spacer lol
I can't really think of anything else it could be offhand right now, but I'll put more thought into it as I ride aorund running pointless errands today, as I needed something cool to think about anyways lol.

I checked for clearance with the wrap around section. First thing I did was crank the wheel over to check for ANYTHING rubbing.
Gotta be the steering box.

do you have a mail jeep? Or why would the passenger side grinding be the steering box? I would say have someone turn the wheel and get under there to pinpoint the sound source

Logically the only thing steering related that was 'altered' MOMENTS before this noise developed was the steering box. So naturally that's most likely the cause.
Unless you care to offer a better explanation? Not saying your wrong, however my ears are the only uncertain variable in this problem, I could have just heard the noise incorrectly. Which seems way more likely than anything else.
1.) Did you torque the steering bolts?
2.) Could the stock spacer have broken upon re-installation?
That's where I would start. Let us know if you need any help, we do over HD steering spacers if yours happens to be broken or damaged.

I said it sounded like it does, but I haven't confirmed.

So what happens if I keep running with a toasted spacer?
This happened to my friend. The steering box was misaligned without the spacer so it would make noises when he turned, and would turn one way more than the other way. You could also see the steering box clearly moving around when you would turn the wheel.
I would just get the C-Rok brace and forget about breaking it again.

I will probably go with the JCR spacer since I've already got the JCR bumper and frame tie ins.
Their stuff is really tough, and they hooked me up really well. Gotta keep up with repeat business.
