So i just installed a new header and now when i start by jeep, it revs out. I shut it off before it revs too high. But its as if im starting it with the throttle to the floor. Need help!!

 

sound like a vacuum leak. check for a leak at the intake cause as im sure you know the exhaust and intake are the same gasket.

 

Alright. The weird elbow thing on the top of the valve cover towards the firewall was broken when taking everything apart. I just used some electrical tape on it for now. Could that be it?

 

I think its a CCV valve? not sure of the name but could this be cause from that?

PCV valve, and just patience to get it out if broken, rubber grommet can be a PIA. I bought my replacement from NAPA auto parts after mine broke doing header too, didnt even try to start though, so can help on the problem.

 

I guess i have no idea how they come out. Do i pull the plastic rubber elbow up or do i need to get a flat head screw driver under the rubber grommet?

 

I dont believe the PCV valve would create a high idle issue.

Check for vacuum leaks around the manifolds. Start her up and spray some wd40 aroud the manifolds. Once you hear the engine drop in speed then you found your leak.

Also make sure you hooked all the sensors back up. Check the IAC valve to see if its sticking wide open.

 

All the sensors are back on. IAC valve? What exactly is that and how do I check that

Hold on. I remember reading a how to for the header, and the guy had left something unhooked. Hold up a second.

His MAP sensor hose was left off. Go back and CHECK EVERYTHING. Also, if the intake is not flush with the cylinder head, you will have this issue. Go back and check everything.

 

Thanks but I've checked everything multiple times and everything is hooked up. Someone said to check the IAC? What exactly is that

 

You're Idle Air Control (IAC) motor is located on the throttle body. Did you at anytime take off the throttle body, or clean it, bump it, anything?

The AIS motor is the same thing as the IAC motor.

 

this might sound like a stupid post but does the pedal have any firmness in it or is it just 'dead'? perhaps you didnt hook up your throttle cable properly. or its obstructed. just an idea

 

I never took the throttle body off or anything. I just removed the airbox and stock snorkel. Nothing more. I just compared my jeep to another and everything is plugged in properly. I'm lost
