I have logged both, on the street, at the dragstrip, idling, cruising etc just to see if there was a difference. my thought is that the radiator would actually heat the fluid and keep it warmer than an external cooler. this was the case on the other 2 vehicles, I was simply applying these findings to my jeep.

I used hptuners and realtime datalogging to monitor the lsex cars. I haven't done anything of the like on this jeep...only because dodge can't release a computer capable of being tuned properly and I refuse to pay full tune capability prices for just a datalogger.

not to mention I blew the trans cooler portion of the rad out with air and got very little fluid, which tells me the cooling capability of the radiator is very minimal.
your adding more cooling and fluid capacity when adding a second cooler .eliminating the cooler built into radiator your loosing cooling and capacity it was designed for . That's what im thinking. Ive installed a few in my younger years and never eliminated radiator.

no matter how you slice it the aftermarket cooler has a larger capacity and much better cooling capability than the internal radiator cooler. which means running them in series only lessens the aux coolers capability.

honestly man I bet I only got 4oz of fluid maybe out of the radiator. ridiculous.

I originally didn't bypass the OEM radiator tranny cooler when I first added my auxiliary tranny cooler. It still overheated. I then went the route of bypassing the OEM cooler and it definitely runs cooler. I don't have a temp gauge for my tranny so I can't tell you how much cooler. But it doesn't overheat anymore so I'm happy

but someone had already messed with it and had a gom of hoses and lines all rigged up. no wonder it was leaking. which surprises me bc it was a state owned vehicle.
Quick lube places. You would be amazed if you seen all the stuff people break
