Around Christmas break i got stranded at a guitar center after going to church.

Symptoms: no noise when cranking but lights on gauge cluster would turn on like normal along with the single din radio and my not cold ac(already know my ac don’t work).

Knew I needed a quick jump, so I called a buddy and he helped me jump it and I went on like normal. I took a 2 hour drive back home(dads house) for the Christmas break and parked my car in front of the house to unload. Afterwards I turned the car back on and drove it around the corner to park it on the street away from the house.

When I tried going down to my moms house after the weekend was done my car had the same symptoms as I listed before.

I tried jump starting it with my sister who was nearby and we couldn’t get it started so I spent the day around the area while my dad got back from work. When we tried jumping it, we charged it a bit before finally getting it to run.

My dad figured it was the battery, but the battery was relatively new (within the last year or 2). So we changed the battery and we thought the problem was fixed until the same problem happens the day I leave to head back to school (which was weeks later). We jump started it and I was on my way. Before heading out I took out the iPhone charger from the power outlet as a hunch and it worked fine until around a few months later. (Keep in mind I’m driving 2 hours to school and drive that car everyday to get to class and church).

I come back home one weekend and before I go back to school, I charge my phone and then drive back to school and the day after the same thing.

This has been happening on and off, some times I try jumpstarting and it works others not even a charge and then jump will work (For the latter I get the Triple A guy to come out and jump it with a portable jump starter). The problem will always happen in less than 12 hours of me driving it(most of them less than 1 hour).

I talked with an electrician friend of mine cause I figured the problem is electrical and he tested all of my fuses/relays, battery, alternator, and he thinks they are all fine(which is what I’ve heard from most of the guys that help me) but he said there could be a loose exposed wire draining battery when it hits metal while the car is running.

I really love my XJ and this has been holding me back. Please help me boys, Idk what to do.
