You are mistaken. Take a look at the link I posted earlier, all of the info is there.
I've pulled many HP D44's from mid 70's Ford F100/F120 with welded on wedges, and all have had 1/2" wall tubes. I have yet to see a mid-70's axle with anything less than 1.2 wall tubes.
I never pull axles that have cast wedges for the usual reasons.

DOnt over look the drum brake 72/73 f100 axles.. Half inch tubes and ppl over look them cause they have drums. They use f150 inner shafts.. and if you do like i did you run reid knuckles and wagonner/chevy brakes and stub shafts. Best of both worlds.
