Default i have a 1978 ford f 150 trailer special four wheel drive

what axles do I have on that truck its in kinda bad shape the motor isn't in it but I was told it had d60 s is that true

Doubtful unless they were swapped in. Only the rare snow fighter F250 had a front 60 others were 44 front 60 rear. If it's 5 lug most likely 44 front 9" rear. Rear will have a drop out 3rd which is the easy way to spot a 9", no diff cover. Also good chance you have cast wedges on the 44 unless it's also a rare bird with front leaves and some of them came with an even rarer rear 44 instead of a 9". Post some pics and we'll let you know.

It can. Ford had some oddball packages and that was one. Like I said they used a rear 44 on some. Had several people argue with me on that one but my grandpa had one and I know he didn't do any axle swaps.

f150 should be ford 9 in rear dana 44 in front trailer package just bigger spring and tow hitch most liklely

Well I do know the trailer special had the 400 can I use that front end or anything off of it

if you got a torch and welder a ford 9 and dana 44 are pretty strong

Get some pics up, like I said in the late 70s Ford had some oddballs and you may have one. More than likely you have a 44 front but the rear could be a 9", 44 or even a 60.

I have the chrysler 29 spline running thirty three but mainly a daily driver so I don't need to upgrade all that but I was just wonderin if I should strip or put the motoer back in it I got a built motor for it but it needs some work but I guess ill just make it a mud truck or something
