Hydro Assist Ram Location
So here's what I've got. I'm installing a 1.75" bore x 8" stroke PSC ram on my XJ (already has WJ knuckles). The ram will be connected to the knuckle using the toe rod's 3/4" bolt so the force is exerted directly on the knuckle.
I'm inclined to put the ram under the toe rod because it gives plenty of room for hoses and doesn't limit my up travel. When mounted under the toe rod, the ram is still quite a bit higher than the bottom of the center section, though the ram is slightly below the axle tube on the passenger's side (it is still higher than the control arm mounts). I can easily fab up a skid from 1/4" plate to protect the ram.
I also considered putting it on the driver's side so the ram is directly in front of the center section which would keep all of the "low hanging parts" together. This would be nice as I already have to "protect" the center section when wheeling (it's the lowest part), however it makes routing hoses more difficult.
Input?
