Default How much lift will new leafs and shackle net?

Hey Guys,

I am picking up some new Crown HD springs (#4886187) and a 1.5" Teraflex shackles today. I was wondering approximately how much height this would net me. I am looking to sit around 3 - 3.5" when all is said and done.

I really want to toss on the H.D. Offroad shackle relocation kit but wasn't sure if with the new leafs and shackle if that would get me sitting higher than I want. They say installing the relocation brackets could lift it around 3/4-1.5" - all depends on shackle angle.

Looking for some thoughts and suggestions on this setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why don't you just buy a 3" lift kit and be done with the Rustys full spring/leaf kit is cheap with excellent quality American made springs/leafs and get everything you need for the lift cheaper than piecing it together.

My Rustys kit has been on for about 3 yrs. and zero sag period with a good ride on and off road.

You got a good point. I didn't check out Rusty's, but they seem to be well priced and I like that they are American made. I think you may have convinced me....do you have any pics of your rig so I could see how it sits? (will also be using the Google).

Thanks for the info!

On this one the Rock Sliders make it look a bit lower.

Thanks for the pics...that looks exactly what I want to do...just looks right!

Any suggestions in addition to the Rustys kit you would recommend? I was gonna grab an adjustable trackbar, but wasn't sure what else might be needed. Plenty of other items I want, but for now, gotta be budget friendly!

Looking back here's how I would do a rear lift:

1st Extended shackles - 1-1.5" Lift
2nd Shackle Relocation Brackets - .75 - 1.5" Lift
3rd Build a Bastard Pack for the rest...

Glad you guys have had success with Rusty's, I just installed the 3" kit on mine and got nothing but grief on another forum. Here is mine (still have a couple of issues with install I am cleaning up but overall happy so far).

As far as other suggestions here is what I have learned you need in addition to the Rusty's kit -

Extended Front Sway Bar Links
Possible random nuts and bolts (existing probably rusted)
Different track bar (or upgrade to Rusty's HD version, no one seems to like the one with the TRE)
The rubber pad that goes on top of the front springs (existing probably worn out)
New bump stops (or extensions) if you are going offroad

Some speak up with zero knowledge only spouting what they have "Heard" online about something. You can have issues with any vendor out there bar none it happens at times. I have thousands of dollars of Rustys parts on my XJ and not a single issue so far, not so with others I have dealt with.

I'm using the Rustys HD track bar as well as the HD Adj. U/L CA's, steering box brace, gear set 4.56's and a bunch of other crap as well.

You have a nice looking XJ BTW.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info fellas! All very useful stuff...think I will go with the Rusty's 3" and Adj trackbar. After that will think about adding some adj UCA/LCAs..the list could never end really.

@Desertfox1023 - Is your preference on the relocation bracket and extended shackles a way to get more flex and better shackle angle? I'm curious about the shackle angle when throwing on the Rusty's kit, but will find out soon hopefully.

Yes, I would say relocation brackets first but the stock shackle does not work well with them.

First lifting the rear with a longer shackle.

Then adding on the relocation bracket to set the Angle right.

Lastly a Bastard pack because, every after market set of springs will eventually sag. That's why I like to build mine from used springs. They've already been broken, it's cheaper, and I can build it for my exact height.

There is an advanced kit from Rustys that comes with UCA / LCA and extended brake lines and yes it never ends

Dont't forget about sway bar links.

I pretty much have the advanced 3 inch lift kit from Rusty's, I just pieced it together because I wanted to swap in some parts from other companies. I really like the way it rides, and it flexes really well off road. No complaints here.

I have Rusty's 6.5 rear leaf springs & they are tough, no sag but stiff.

Just noticed your question, I would suggest an Adj. Track Bar with your lift and possibly a TC drop kit.
