I've been wanting to regear for some time so this was just extra motivation to finally do it. But I will definitely add that cooler to the list and move it towards the top. I appreciate the advice good sir.
TMI my man! Haha I only added that because I'm part Scot as well and found it hilarious.

So, what clans claim you? Ross & MacLeod, here. One of these days, I'd like to go to Scotland as a tourist instead of on my way somewhere else (getting through the airport would be a pain tho - unless they start running transatlantic ocean liners again anytime soon...)

Since the time I started this thread, I regeared to 4.56s. Yesterday, I threw in a 3 row radiator and bypassed the factory tranny cooler after all the recommendations here so that it's just routed from the tranny, to the B&M cooler and back to the tranny. My XJ has never been this happy with me. I took it for another long drive today to go play in dirt/little bits of mud and that included a lot of hills and inclined roads to get there and zero problems at all.

I'm really not sure. I haven't put in a tranny temp gauge yet. What I do know, is if there isn't smoke in my rearview mirror from tranny fluid dumping on my downpipe, I'm happy.

I'm on 33s too and still have to re-gear. I would like to install this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Connect the trans line out of radiator to the inlet of the cooler. Cooler outlet goes back to trans inlet.

This is a good one. I personally would buy it brand new. Only because you wouldn't want a used one dying on you and starting to leak. But if you did buy a used one, clean the crap out of it (run all sorts of water/cleaner through it) to make sure you won't be getting anything other than fluid into your tranny.
I'll try and snap pics of my setup later on today

I had hought a cheapo flexalite cooler for $40 but i just returned it and im looking for something that doesnt look so cheap and will be quite reliable. I see you guys recommend the 70264 cooler from B&M. Best choice for the money?
Its not on the list of coolers for cherokees on jegs atleast. Its on the site just not there when you put in that you have a cherokee. Im assuming it still works without any extra modification?
Im also runnin 33x12.50s on stock gearing by the way. No issues so far though and i have quite alot of hills here.

I haven't installed it yet, but I have a B&M cooler I am going to slap in there soon. Plan on deleting the factory trans lines and run regular hoses and fittings to it. The B&M claims it has a valve to prevent over cooling (at least on the one I bought). I will have to check what model it is. I think the factory setup is stupid my self. I ran regular trans coolers on my starion and mustangs before I got into the 4x4 stuff and none of them ran through the radiator, and I never had "overcooling" problems.
