If you have both the male and female ends, the male end just goes into the female end. No crimping. Should be a snug connection.

you need crimpers to crimp the connectors on.

you can use a pair of linesman's pliers, or a good set of pliers. you can use a pair of side cutters, but be careful not to cut through the connector. needle nose just doesn't have the force to crimp tightly.
