Default How can they do that

I just watched a video and this guy drove his jeep through a pond completely under water . Wouldn't his electric fry . How could he breath I can't hold my breath that long and how could he see the lake/ pond what ever was curved and muddy ? I was amazed and no I don't think I would ever be able to do that my jeep blows a fuse if it looks like its going to rain

Sigh...ok, first of all, water is not the massive threat to your electronics everyone would have you believe (OMG, you have to smear dielectric grease on everything to drive through puddles!!!!) Water is not a conductor naturally. The reasons why electricity can pass through water are the combination of 2 things: impurities in the water that act as conductors and high voltage. Granted, the water (mud) most of us drive through has enough minerals in it to be conductive, the voltage we generate in an auto (~14v) is not enough to cause catastrophic failure. We are ingrained to have this belief that water combined with electricity equals death, but the high voltage of AC systems is where this really comes from. This is why if you dry it properly, you can drop a phone in water and it can still work. Most often, the damage is done to traces lifting from PC boards when not dried quickly enough.

As for breathing, its hard to tell without seeing how long he was under in the video, but the cab will not fill with water immediately. If it was a planned stunt, he might have had scuba gear...

He had a snorkel that was about 2 ft above the roof . I sure it was a planed stunt . I wasn't worried about the getting shocked . I was thinking about frying the fuses and such

Here is one similar to what you are asking about. I can't find the other one.

The same reason it won't shock you is the reason it won't short everything out. Not enough voltage to push the current through the water to create a short. DC doesn't have the problems with water AC does.
