Im searching for some helpful information on how to put a V8 in my 01 cherokee sport. Things like if i need to change the motor mounts,coumputer,websites for parts and etc. my plan is to put a V8 in and lift and upgrade parts needed for this. So any information would be helpful. Thanks

just how basic his questions are. he needs a bit of time on the googles before diving in.

 

I can agree a bit with this. I haven't even gotten around to my swap yet (funds), and I still google/naxja/jeep forum/novak the swap nearly everyday. But I think more of the swap knowledge is gained from jumping in and going to it. Especially for GM powertrains, because their systems are basically self support and just need a few wires spliced and maybe a couple relays and fuses added. The mounts are already pre-made by companies like Novak and AA (going with Novak myself). So are headers and if needed shifters. CPU tunes are cheap from lt1swap.com.

The more research I do, the less difficult it over-all seems to be.

 

I helped a buddy swap a ls2 into his Nissan 240sx. that was no easy task. I can tell that it would go much easier in a xj.

 

Everything I have read on this is fail. Extra weight, not much more power, nose heavy, parts breaking, ect, ect.... I would really rethink this.

Well, I guess I just saw all the negative posts about it and remembered that. I've never done it and admittedly, I know next to nothing about it. Guess that's why you can't always trust the interwebnetz. LOL

 

Ls1 is all aluminum, 4.0 is all cast iron. So, no, its not heavier.

Even if you went with a 4.8 ls-type motor, they make 260+hp. 260>190.
Ls1 starts at 320hp. 320 is a fvvvckload more power than 190, especially in an xj.

They arent any less reliable than a 4.0, and actually get BETTER gas mileage.
