Default Holy smoking carpet batman!

So I was on my way home from work today and noticed a burning plastic smell, didn't see any smoke...when I went to get my laptop back out of the back I noticed smoke coming out from under the newly installed carpet so I ripped it up as fast as I could thank god I cut in it certain places and didn't have the back seats in yet. I know XJs are notorious for the floorboards getting hot and my engine temps stay right at about 210. The previous owner rhino lined the interior and took all the carpet out. I just put in new carpet and it is hot from one particular place, passenger side rear floor board, I'm thinking of doing an insulated heat blanket on top and wrapping the exhaust, anything else I should be considering?

Your cat/muffler is really hot. How close is the muffler from the floor board, any rust holes, does the muffler have a heat shield?

New MagnaFlow put on right before I bought it by the previous owner, with everything else he did on the truck it wouldn't surprise me if he took the heat shield out.

You can always make one as well using some sheet metal.

Lol alright I'll follow the instructions on the write up I found on here, BTW there is no heatshield what so ever anymore, so Home Depot for auto parts, think it's a good idea to wrap the muffler as well?

Took my 91 on its first longer ride the other day (about 45 minutes) and it kinda scared the hell outta me how hot the floorboard got especially around the tranny. Previous owner of mine rhino lined too. I had never heard about how hot they get. Let me know how the heat shield works.
