Yes. Mine starts very well, and I haven't exactly been kind to it. I have drained it several times (from leaving an interior light on), and it still lives!

I have no experience with the newer ones, as this is the only Optima I've ever owned.

I purchased and installed a Yellow Top from a Costco for around ~$150.00 over 10 years ago and it's still going strong.

AGM's don't behave the same as opens cells when there all the way drained. When completely drained I usually put the Optima and another Sears Diehard Platinum AGM (used as a second battery) on a PWM charger to bring back to normal.

I don't know if Optima Quality has gone down there are some cheaper AGMs out there for a little over a hundred dollars. From $100.00 to ~$150.00

For a quality battery you can't really choose a battery only based on a name-brand because quality may depend on the group size and perhaps how many of a group size are sold.

e.g. one size car battery with the same name-brand may perform and last longer than another size car battery of the same name-brand.

My next battery perhaps I'll first look in a JY and see what sort of prices they have for my group size.

Thanks guys! So far the 9 year old Optima seems to be doing its job just fine...so I'll keep it in service for a while and see how long it lasts.
