Default Hi-Lift question?

I have a 5.5 inch lift and I was wondering if I should get a hi-lift or if I should just buy floor jacks.

I was thinking one I could just keep in the car. For all around use.

.... ok ill give the pros and cons of both...
floor jack while being the safest to use isnt good for offroad..cause they weigh a ton...
hilift while good to carry to use when in a pinch are very unsafe due to tipping over..
i own both hilift is in my jeep, floor jack is in the garage..
does any of that help?

I was thinking of keeping a square piece of wood (or something hard) and using an axle jack.

My jeep still has stock bumpers, and if I'm not mistaken the hi-lift has to attach to something hard.

a rocker panel will do fine

yes you will need a sturdy point to pick up on with a high lift jack

That is true i still have a stock rear bumper, i use it on my hitch or my buddy uses it on his sliders so in that saying i guess you could do that.

as long as you have steel bumpers you will be fine. my xj has stock bumpers and i use my hi-lift on them all the time. it should be against the law to go offroading without one. i am able to turn my hi-lift into a winch with a couple chains and a tree saver if i ever need to, do you think you can turn a floor jack into a winch if you get stuck on the trail.

I have used my rocker panel many times. I dont know about you but I love the crushed look. Haha. Rock sliders will be in my future for sure.

if at home i use a floor jack. i wouldnt go to the trails w out a hilift tho. i have needed it many times and w out it i would have been screwed. ive popped a tire off the bead on the trail and without the hi lift i would have been walking. and there are many uses for a hi lift jack. look it up on the web. people use them for lifting clamping and winching if not more. Ive even pulled a few shrubs in my front yard w mine lol. best 60- 80 dollar investment
