Help with tie rod roll

Default Help with tie rod roll

I have a 97 xj with a ford 8 lug d44. i bought the axle with this heavy duty otk steering setup already on it. i am having some tie rod roll givving me bump steer. what can i do to help fix it?

You have bump steer because your drag link and track bar is not parallel

they are not that far off. and the draglink is bent parrallel with the ground. the steering also is giving some tie rod roll

the angles were way worse before the drag link was bent to be parrallel with the ground

Those heims and bolts don't look like they're the best quality. You shouldn't have much, if any noticeable roll.

those are grade 8 bolts, not sure about the heims. the guy said they were ruff stuff but i can tell you for sure. i can go out and grab the tie rod and roll it back and forth a little with just my hands

They look small, and doesn't look like ruffstuff's hardware. And being able to roll it by hand is normal. Look into going with a crossover setup using a high steer arm on the pass side, and moving up the trackbar.

putting a bend in something doesnt change the mounting location...

i agree that you are probably getting more bumpsteer from your tracbar/draglinik setup, then the actual heims.

they are 3/4" heims. its supposedly ruff stuff heims not bolts

+3. The diff end of the track bar is well below the drag link, it should be moved up 3-4 inches to be good. The steering is OTK and the track bar is set up for UTK.

Doesn't need to be above the axle necessarily, but yea the angles are way off.
