Headlights on a rocker switch panel fuse

I have been fighting out the hackjob of wiring for the lighting system in my Jeep that the previous owner gave to me and am now wanting to use a set of rocker switches to turn on/off headlights and the other perimeter lighting.

I have decided to use a Putco H4 relay harness to relieve pressure off the rocker switch and yield better headlight performance.

The Putco harness does not seem to have fuse protection and I wonder if I should add a fuse to the harness. ?

Are there any concerns about using a switch panel for headlights? The fixture in the dash that holds the OEM headlight switch has broken and I need to find a better solution than just doing another hackjob fix with the stupid stock switch.

first thing i did was add a fuse pre-relay to each feed line...
i think it's expected, just not supplied with the harness

I have built several cars using aftermarket wiring harness for all the basic wiring Ign., Lights, etc. they were all Painless kits for race cars but I think they sell single ones also that will do what your after. They are not cheap but are excellent high quality kits.

If you want to look at them Summit and Jegs both handle them.

Then I will definitely put an in-line fuse in the system. Can't have any more unexpected fires/failures.

I'd like to replace the entire wiring system for the whole Jeep! With good disconnects between the firewall and other places so a whole segment can be taken out and worked on if necessary.

Wire has become real expensive over the last few years... :/

I think it would be easier to pull an engine and replace it than it is to fix stock wiring issues sometimes...
