OK I know we can use S10's or Dakota leaves to achieve lift but has anybody achieved a 2" lift with a bastard pack? I keep seeing it's possible but curse you guys, cause everybody goes 3" or more....haha

What is your order of springs? Also did you use your original XJ springs? Were they flat?

Also, of course, post picture of your 2" bastard pack Jeep.

Everybody is still welcome to weigh in and show their 2" bastard pack Jeeps but I think I finally found the answer to achieve the 2", or at least one way.

You need an XJ main in pretty good shape, hopefully fully arched. You then take the S10 pack off a 2wd and lose the S10 main then put the good XJ main on top of what's left of the S10 and that should get 2"-2.25". But it's important that the XJ main is in good shape.

That seems like a lot of work to achieve something in used condition that the aftermarket already provides new.

Why not just get a set of Crown/Dorman HD leafs or Rancho 1.5"" leafs?

Because it is so much cheaper than buying those. That's the only reason for me. I wish I could afford to buy some of those aftermarket 1.5-2.5" leaf packs. But at the moment I can't.

Bastard packs are always a trial and error type of upgrade. Due to using used parts there is no reliable way to determine what the end result will be.

If it were me doing it again I would work with an XJ/XJ pack. Should easily be able to get 2" using this but as stated I couldn't say what leafs to use other than XJ main XJ main then stack.

The crowns in the questions section stated that they gave a 2" lift over stock. But I would call them to make sure. Those are tempting if they give 2 inches and I can get up the extra money.

The dorman link. In the question sections said it only goes back to stock height so I probably wouldn't get those.

bastard packs ride rough, if you only want a couple inches over stock, look into Old Man Emu, they make a lift that is a better ride than stock. you won't be disappointed.

^^^Dude is on a budget OME is probably not going to fit that. If you got the money they are certainly the way to go.

OP for the 1-2 inch Crown leaves you need the "HD" versions that are 750 lb/in springs. General Spring also makes some to this spec and they come with the bushings in them already. The Crowns will need bushings installed. These will put you at "upcountry" height which from the factory is about 1 to 1.5 inches over a regular non upcountry Jeep. You'll need some MOOG 782 coil springs to match up with the rear crowns. I've ran this "lift" on 2 different Jeeps now and love it. Keeps me around stockish height and after about a 1 month breakin period rides great.

As for the bastard pack I did this years ago on a 2000. I think I wound up using a set of Dakota leaves and only used the main leaf off of each pack and cut the spring eyes off of them. Gave me about 2 inches if I remember right.

So just 2 springs to a pack?.....interesting

& Yes, I am on a budget to the max. I put the budget in budget boost. Still trying to figure out how to get all the things I need at the moment (radiator, coolant, motor mounts, trans mount, oil, filter, tires, and rims that ain't corroded leaking crap & that's not everything but that's the main stuff). I'm on such a budget that when I get on here it's not from my phone. It's either being connected to WiFi or using a family members phone real quick....hahaha.

Going to have to go with the cheapest motor mounts & trans mount for sure, even though an upgraded kind seem better. If they last a year for $6 a piece that really aint too bad to change again.

No one extra spring per side. Just the main leaves out of each pack. One on each side. YMMV though depending on how much youre sagged out already. Theres no hard and fast answer youre just going to have to experiment a bit.
