Hand clutch vs tranny swap
Okay, to start this, I have an above knee prosthetic leg on left side/clutch side. I've been contemplating purchasing a manual transmission LJ (I've always wanted an LJ) the first mod would be to change the unlimited logo on the side to "unlimbited" pun intended. A hand clutch is available for about 3,000. How much would it cost to convert it to an automatic? To keep it real I also have a 2001 2dr 4x4 XJ. Input please.

It will need
Trans
Flex plate
Torque converter
Both drivelines
X-member
Full wire harness
Auto center console
All shift cables
Steering column for trans lock out
Ecu for motor and trans.
Dam that's a big list.
And I like the pun for the rigs name.

I know all of this (and thanks for the parts rundown. I didn't know all that) but I found a really cool electric lime green LJ rubicon that is unmolested and ready for me to tamper with. I'm thinking about a Velcro strap to keep my foot on the clutch until I can afford a more permanent solution. There is a will, so I know there is a way. But I also know that you XJers are more fun to hang out with. I'm building an XJ for my daughter.......2001 2dr 4X4. Thanks for the Input and keep the ideas coming. I wouldn't ask if I knew what I was doing. BTW cost of a rubicon LJ standard is about 3,000 less than a rubiLJ auto. Driving a standard would challenge me more.

LOL. Motorcycle accident 3yrs ago. Dude pulled out in front of me and I t-bone the side of his station wagon. It's all good now though. I'm so used to it that it's kinda fun. The Hokey Pokey sucks though.

I have no valuable input to add for the shifter/clutch question, I just wanted commend you on your attitude and making the best of a bad situation. I currently ride motorcycles so I know how scary that can be when people aren't paying attention. I also love driving a manual and know how that desire can stick with you to ride and drive.
