Default good shocks with no mods?

I am looking to upgrade my shocks I am running RC's new stage 2 shocks right now but I would like to upgrade them to something a bit better. I am looking to just replace the fronts for now. untill i get paid next to purchase some for the rear. I am looking at shocks like fox, king, or bilisteins but i am open to any other brands. I am looking for something that will bolt right in with no mods needed. If i have to get stud conversions that is ok since they are a simple bolt on. I have a 4.5" lift and installing long arms at the end of the month.

If your planning on long arms wait until then to get new shocks so you can get the correct travel shocks

Strange. I must have missed the part about going to long arms.

Do the shocks really do a big difference? I got the RC 2.2 shocks as well, but I use my XJ as DD and more of a weekend warrior and nothing hardcore off the road. Is it worth upgrading?

Springs and shocks make more of a difference on how ride feels than anything. The difference between crappy off brand shocks and quality shocks is night and day.

What proper length shocks should i get? What about shocks with remote res's or are they more for a prerunner, jeepspeed? all the offroading around here is trails/rocks/mud

you need to get the long arms installed and cycle your suspension measure at full droop and full bump

the remote resis are more for speed, to keep the shock's effectiveness lasting longer. based on the price difference i would just get the resis anyway, but thats just me.

try half of that. and besides, theres a reason they cost that much. unlike your $40 cheap white tube shocks that will need replacing, these can be rebuilt and tuned for a specific application.

Kings are $400 and up.

I like the idea of a rebuildable shock I can tune. Just not that much... To each their own.

you're looking a a very expensive set of shocks... there are kings and other brand rebuild and revalveable shocks for half of that. piggybacks are usually 70-80 bucks more than remote resis, and thats a 2.5", which will run you another 50-60 or so more than a 2.0.
