Default A good gear ratio for dd that is wheeled on the weekends?

Hey guys im starting to build my 93 to door and was woundering what gear ratio i should go with. Ill be running 33 12.50 r 15s. I drive about 120 miles a day on the interstae at 70mph when i drive it to work. I do wheel alot on the weekends and since i live in West virginia It consists of alot of steep climbs. I know I cant realy get the best of both worlds when it comes to trail riding and interstate driving but i would like to find a happy medium on the gearing.

I run the same tire and the 4.56's are great for a DD as they bring it back to the OEM gearing with the stock tire size and 3.55's. This is a great time to install lockers as the labor is the same as with a gear change. If you don't install locker in the D30 you will need a new carrier for it for those gears.

Don't forget to change the speedometer gear when you do the gears, so it reads correctly.

If by chance you do need a carrier I have a new one that I bought and never used that I would make you a deal on.

Welcome. I'm originally from WV myself, Ronceverte WV. As the other members stated 4.56 will be your best option.

27/33 x 3.55 = 2.90:1
27/33 x 4.10 = 3.35:1
27/33 x 4.56 = 3.73:1

4.56:1 is the best choice as your Xj will "think and act" like it's still turning 27" tires with 3.73:1 gearing (3.55:1 is stock gearing but some Xjs were offered with the Towing Package which had 3.73:1 gearing)
