Default Good or bad idea for track bar?

With the lift im putying in i bough a rubicon express track bar and in order to install it i need to drill a 5/8" hole to get the new bolt in

However my stepdad owns a machine shop and had the idea of milling it down to the black line that was drawn around the bolt down to a 1/2" so that it would fit the regular stock hole size for the track bar.

Is this a bad idea for any safety reasons?

Why go through all that work? Just drill the hole out and call it a day?

Milling the bolt just seems like a more involved process towards achieving the same result to me. I'm assuming your talking about the frame bracket side of the track bar set up, I just got done helping my son install an adjustable track bar on his rig and it took less then 5 minutes to drill out the tapered hole to accept the new bolt. That route seems quicker and easier to me, just my .02.

Now I'm just confused, you have access to the equipment required to mill the bolt, but not a 1/2 inch drill?

Check out any store that sells tools (Lowes, home Depot, etc.) and see if you can get the drill bit you need with the smaller 3/8 shank on it.
