Default Going from 4.75" to 5.5-5.75" any issues?

Hey all - I am currently sitting around 4.75" lift in the front of my XJ. I want to level it out with the rear which sits around 5.75-6". I have an OR-fab front winch bumper and plan on adding a winch soon (going synthetic cable figure 50lbs).

My front suspension is a combination of Rustys HD 3" springs (180lb rate) and a .75" spacer. I am running a RC adjustable track bar set to 4.5" lift and a drop pitman arm for 4.5" of lift as well as RC Lower control arms for 4.5" lift and heavy duty tie-rod. I want to know if i replace my .75" spacer with a 1.75" spacer increasing my total lift from 4.75" to around 5.5" or 5.75" if my current track bar and drop pitman arm will still be ok..I don't expect that an additional .75"-1" would be a big deal, but someone who knows more than me please chime in...Thanks

Your going to need long arms at that height. It's really not the best idea to have normal control arms at the heights you want.

Aside from better flex what are some of the issues that can arise without using long arms?

Check out the chart on this link

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/nkocs-lift-reference-chart-211878/

Looks like you need aftermarket steering as well. An inch may not seem like a lot, but it really is when your talking about lift and what's needed.

Light trail riding, some snow wheeling. It isn't my DD but it is far from a rock crawler..

Just looking to level out the front and rear for the most part. Also I like the ride height it has now around 5" or so and with adding the winch, I want to make sure it doesn't sag any lower than 5"..

i'm currently at around 4.5" with short arms and no drop brackets, the axle is set a few inches back and cause some premature tire wear (after a year and a half of use, the rear tires are almost brand new (12/32) while the front are 8/32.

for 4.5" this can be fixed with drop brackets, but above that i'm pretty sure the geometry will cause the same problem.

Well I am running RC 4.5" lower control arms. I'm not running stock lowers anymore. So i think that is in place of the drop brackets.

I am looking to see what the tolerances are with the parts installed. As typically you can go up to a 2"-3" lift on XJs without touching any of the suspension parts like Track bar pitman arm, control arms etc...

So since all of my stuff is spec'd for a 4.5" lift, I was wondering if bumping up another 1" of lift or so would cause any big problems, or if it wouldn't effect my current suspension parts too much.

It's not gonna work man. The control arms are fixed for 4.5 inches. Going up another inch is going to stress the heck out of alot of components and you'll have a ****ty ride. The angles will be jacked. If you want to stand pat, at least get adjustable upper and lower control arms.

Ok thanks for that info. I will have to look into possibly an adjustable setup...

Sooo why not just add a 1/2-3/4" spacer if you're worried about the added weight of the winch pulling the front end down? A winch doesn't make THAT big of a difference. Done

I think because he is looking to get to about 5.75 inches. The winch may bring it down by quarter inch but that's it.

But what do you think of his control arm and overall front steering setup Jeepin? I think he's on stock uca.

Yes Martlor is correct, I am on stock UCA with 4.5" fixed LCAs...
