I would just take off everything behind the cat and weld the muffler on and a turn down

From recent personal experience i would not go with this. Sounds horrible and cabin drone is insane. I wouldnt run any muffler turned down under an xj. I would say if u want the @sspack get a muffler shop to install the tail section for you. You will thank me later!

I would recommend a 2-1/4" center inlet with 2-1/4" offset outlet. OEM length is close to 25" so a shorter muffler will work with the addition of a section of 2-1/4" pipe. Relpace the old muffler with the new, re-use or replace the tailpipe with an OEM type that keeps it up high and tucked in between the leaf springs and fuel tank. Clamps work fine.

I cut the turndown end off of my tailpipe and replaced it with a straight piece that exits beyond the bumper and it cut down on the droning.

well.. what would u recomend? and just take the muffler into a muffler shop and ask them hey put this on and can you add a tail section? that dumps out underneath the bumper?

I bought a 23" CherryBomb Glass Pack and put that on after the cat. I left it just like that with no tail pipe. It was crazy loud, didn't sound all that great and droned like hell. I then cut the OEM tailpipe off the OEM muffler and got that on there. Now, it sounds awesome! I get compliments all the time and have even been asked on multiple ocassions if there is a Cummins under the hood.

Your gonna need new clamps for sure. Hangers, no. Atleast I didn't. The front hanger on the tail pipe won't really bolt up because the glasspack is straight through while the OEM muffler center in offset out. The rear hanger is just a clamp.
