Default gears and locker question

So I've been doing as much research as possible and I've come to the conclusion that for what I want my Jeep to do, I'd like to get 4.56 gears and a E-Locker up front. What I was wondering is that if I'm getting a locker up front, will I need a new carrier as well? And will I need one for the back. I also plan on getting a master rebuild kit for both axles.

The e-Locker is a full case locker, so it is the carrier. Just make sure you order the correct one for your gear choice.

You didn't list what rear axle you have.

E-locker has its own carrier. Make sure you buy for 3.73 up.check out rockauto for awesome prices on lockers, gears, and master kits. Wish I would of bought from them, would of saved a lot of money. Have you considered a truetrac for the front? I run truetrac in front, Spartan in the rear with 4.56s and its wonderbar.

Sorry, 8.25 rear. And I debated on what type/brand I wanted and a selectable locker seems to be the best bet for me.

The only selectable on the market for the 8.25" is the ARB.

And thanks for the link, but I won't be buying the locker till christmas time. One of the guys is buying my old XJ with his christmas bonus and I'm using the money from that to get 33's and a locker. I purchased my Smittybilt XRC bumper from SeriousOffroad at a good price and great customer service and plan on getting the OTK kit from them as well.

I am aware that ARB makes the only selectable for the 8.25 but I was thinking detroit full case or an lsd for the rear sometime down the road (or trail lol).

Also, although I have a low pinion dana 30 now, it'll be swapped for a hp before the gears and locker. The d30 is from a 99 and my 8.25 is an 01. I believe the 8.25 is 29 spline but I'm not sure about the d30.

99 is high pinion. 00-01 is low pinion

And I'm putting a high pinion from a 99 in is, but I was wondering what the spline count on it was.

If you are asking about the spline count on the D/30, stock count is 27, but you can get an E- Locker and aftermarket shafts for the D/30 with a 30 spline count if you want.
The 2001 C/8.25 spline count is 29.

I've been looking into polishing a turd (d30). On the shafts. If you do decide to go 30 spline at the carrier, replacement shafts have to be 30 spline. So your trail spares will have to be some $$$ expensive ones. That's why I'll probably stay away from them lol.

I'm running the E-Locker with the 30 spline upgrade. I'm not worried about breaking the 4340 30 spline shafts though, because the ring and pinion and the 27 spline outer shafts will break first.

That's my reasoning though. I'd rather blow axle shafts than ring and pinion gears.

Just something to think about.

How do you like that e-locker though? Any problems with the wiring?
