Thanks for the tip. I thought those were stronger. Its off an S10 blazer. I'm gettin the truck for free without the tires. I guess i'll just strip it, sell the parts and get gears for my axles with the cash. It does have a winch though with a busted cable so i'm excited about that. Oh and it has detroit lockers front and rear.

hey dont knock it bc of the c-clips! my 60 is c-clip with 35 spline alloys, no worries about that bad boy breaking. but the 10 bolt isnt that great of an axle, so yea, dont do it.

Not really, that's down there with how screwdrivers work. Way too obvious. Pretty sure he's just explaining the ratio...

Correct, someone told the OP the opposite and I just tried to clarify it for him in the simplest way. "Someone" likes to mess with my posts. Lol

Heck, I'm just saying that you corrected the guy who got it right and then he came back and apologized for being wrong. If you have 4.10 gears your driveshaft turns four point one times for every revolution of your axle.

I was thinking of going with like a 4.56 gearset but i had a little arguement this morning with one of my drivers about pros and cons. I dont know anything about axles really so i took his word for it and now i'm asking here. He said that if you up the gear ratio, it causes the engine to spin more to make the axle spin less. Does this mean that at highway speed, i might have more torque for hills but my engine will be spinning at a higher rpm all the time? the way he explained it to me is a 3.00 gear set means the engine turns 3 times for every one time the axle turns, 4.00 mean 4 engine rotations for 1 axle rotation. This seems really detrimental to my gas mileage. Also i was thinking of keeping the 3.55 axle gears and looking into having my AW4 geared. I'm on 33s right now and i dont plan on going any bigger with the tire size.
A big help for me was this article by people who are not web wheelers http://www.4wdandsportutility.com/te...y/viewall.html according to this the lower gearing like 4.10 4.56 etc. gives your better efficiency because the engine runs more efficiently at the peak TORQUE rpm not the HP rpm
