Default Gas tank skid

Hey guys so I run mostly dirt trails that get really rutted but typically don't have many rocks. I have a chance to pick up a gas tank skid relatively cheap($80), but I also have some other things high on my priority list. How important is a gas tank skid should I jump on this deal or tackle my higher priorities and then look into the skid later on? BTW I'm on a BDS 4.5" lift that the p.o. installed came with terrible vibrations so I just did a SYE. Still have minor vibrations so one priority is a new trans mount. Also the BDS sway bar disconnects absolutely suck. Who decided that a plastic piece on a weak spring is a good idea to hold things together. As soon as I go over a bump the driver side disconnects itself. I rigged it with 2 zip ties and it holds great now(2 months). But I should replace these(another priority). I'm on a tight budget with a new baby coming in the next couple weeks, so thanks for your thoughts!

I mean if you have the 80 bucks to blow on something you need I would get a good set of quick discos so you don't have to rely on zip ties anymore but to each his own. I also usually just run dirt and mud trails and haven't hit my gas tank yet but I do think about it from time to time.

Depends on the skid plate. A JCR is $300 new, at $80 I would jump ASAP. A stock one? Wouldn't pay more than $40, at $80 I would pass. As far as priorities, I would buy a set of JKS disconnects before I worry about a skid plate.

Thanks guys, my thoughts were the disco's as well. The skid definitely isn't a JCR or any name brand for that matter. I'm thinking tranny mount and disco's then see how off-roading goes.

Just light trails, I would look at discos too. I have the JKS ones and I love them. Would recommend that you do pay extra for them.
