yeah, so do i and it has seen a lot of abuse without ruining my gas tank. every skid will drag but will protect your tank from getting smashed in.

and if you are really dead set on relocating your tank, dont do a hack job and just move the tank up. go and get a fuel cell and all the proper hoses for it.

do what you want. I think the tank tuck is a great idea it's practically free. definitely on my to-do list. skid plates are boring

this is the back of my buddies xj. aftermarket gas tank sits im the back where the back seats would be. im looking to do a similar set up in my chop top after replacing the rust riddled floor lol. good luck with your relocation, it will be far better than a skid plate if you do some serious wheeling. in case you guys are wondering, those are 37's one ton axles and 14" travel fox air shocks and a custom roll cage setup, and it was all done in that garage. recommend you find a friend like mine for all your cherokee tips and tricks

same here. i've got a new tank coming on monday, and it's getting a tuck, but with a bit of modification to the factory skid.

yeah, id go with an aftermarket tank, move it in the back. There are some tanks made specifically for the XJ that you can get that makes install a lot easier. just need to clear a spot and mount the thing and youre gtg. I googled "xj cherokee off road fuel tank" and eventually found some after sifting through a few sites. cutting and welding will likely be required.

if done right, a tank tuck is a great thing. by moving the tsnk 8" up, the bottom would be in line with the unibody rails, meaning you can then put a flat skid under it. great ground clearance, and alot cheaper than a fuel cell. hack jobs are the best. If you have the money to go out and buy a fuel cell, then go for it.
