Default Full width axle swapped. Now i need a sway bar. help?

So my XJ has the axles from a 79 ford bronco. HPD44 up front and ford 9 out back. Its a bit of a handfull to drive on the street (no trailer yet) so im wondering of those that have done this swap, what are you using for sway bars? Currie? any info would be great and photos even better!

Thanks for the help!

I'm running a 1979 ford hpd44 but I retubed to 64" wms. Right now I have no sway bar but plan on running the Currie in the very near future.

try to finagle a ZJ sway bar on there for time being. if you plan to trailer it you'll be bummed at how much you spent on antirock. I know theres also some sort of DIY antirock kit out there where they send you the machined pieces and you put together the rest. I can get more info on that if you want

what coils and shocks are you running? I'm 1 ton swapped and my jeep loves the freeway without a sway bar. but I've got super stiff coils and bilsteins

You think no swaybar is the way to go for a trailered rig? I always thought the antirock was engineered to provide better performance offroad ie giving better traction by providing down force to opposite wheel when on obstacles. I run Bilsteins and RE 4.5" coils and it runs down the freeway fine. Where I notice it is on twisty back country roads and dirt roads with bad washboards.

money wise on a crawler? definitely no antirock. antirock ain't cheap and in my off-camber experience it seems frivolous. I'd get antirock if I was trying to race a jeep stock mod style or jeepspeed for sure, that's where you'd get your moneys worth.

how fast are you going down these back country roads? I usually run "safe" speeds (not flying around corners) and I never feel the need for any sort of sway bar. I guess it's personal preference to some degree.

That makes perfect sense. I'm definitely not saying I don't feel safe, and i know my jeep definitely isn't breaking any land speed records, but I do notice some excess body roll I didnt have back when I had my d30. Yeah the whole jeep is a way different animal now but I thought I'd get some stability back with a sway bar and I like the antirock setup.

Sorry if you feel I hijacked your thread OP!

your rig looks pretty low, what does your steering look like? I know my panhard is too short and that actually causes bump steer that gives the feeling of body roll.

anyway. here's some info on how to make a DIY anti rock. you can probably PM him if you need more info

You could get your hands on a v8 ZJ swaybar and make some custom axle end mounts. The ZJ bar is thicker than the XJ bar and I think will fit into the oem factory swaybar spot with the ZJ bushings.

I'll take that as a compliment Weighted down like it is I think I'm at about 4 inches on 35s.

I thought I had a picture of the steering but can't find one right now. It's an OTK inverted T setup. I know it's not ideal, and could very well be the source of my perceived body roll, but I threw it together quickly. I have Crane knuckles and hi-steer arms so whenever I find time it'll get a true hi-steer setup.

Thanks for all the info. I'll look into that DIY antirock but I may reconsider it now.. who knows, I'm constantly changing my mind

it is a compliment! the lower the better (to a certain degree lol). going to true high steer has got to be one of my favorite upgrades to date. it's amazing
