Full length roof rack upgrade
I tried to search but only got results for aftermarket roof racks. I want to know how to upgrade my XJ from the short roof rails to the full length ones. Is it hard? Possible? A ton of work? I'm sure this has been asked before on the forum any input?

Are you referring to the rails that run along the top of the cab, which the sliding cross members lock on to? Your sig mentions you have a 2000; I think those are on the 98s and lower. I have yet to see a 99 with them, I've been wondering myself.
Just out of curiosity why are you looking for the longer rails? My thinking is to jam longer loads up there more securely, like a canoe, but if you're going with any serious weight then something that mounts to the gutters would be more ideal.

No big loads. I just kinda want to put three crossbars on top, two for the roof basket (if I decide against gutter mounts) and on way up front with some lights on it. I dunno, I think they full length look cooler

Swapping to long rack shouldnt be a problem unless you have to remove headliner.
Once i got quad in trailer ill need room for gear. This will be my next project after i get brakes upgraded for towing.
