Hello, I have a 93 Xj that I've been fixing up after it got the interior burned up. I recently got it started and driving before starting to gut out all the interior but have run into a problem. I bought the plastic housing for the steering column and had to take the entire thing apart , when I went to put it back together I noticed the key wouldn't turn all the way down to start it. Me being kinda lazy and not wanting to take the column apart again decided to wire in a push start button, since I figured it would be easier. Now the Jeep starts normally (as in I turn the key and push the button) and it idles, but about 5 seconds after starting I can hear the fuel pump priming and the engine starts to flood, which prompts me to kill the engine. At first I thought had wired the push start wrong, which was just the red 12v constant and the yellow starter wire, and proceed to try wiring it differently by following a guide on this site but still the same problem. So now I'm not sure if I managed to wire the push button wrong again or if its something in the steering column causing this. I thought I'd ask here since I technically modified the ignition switch. Any ideas?
