Fuel Injector Upgrade
So today I went to Pull A Part. They had many Dodge Neons. Isnt the Neon injector what I need to be looking for? Would someone please give me some info as to what I might need? Or is this something I need to get new? Thanks

$7 is damn cheap for injectors.
Just be aware that if you buy JY injectors it is HIGHLY recommended to do a rebuild on them.
Yes, the Neon is the car you're looking for, but you want the Neons that are pre-98. There was a change in connector type in 98 that changed the injectors to 784s.
Personally, I purchased a set from a guy here on the site. He sells sets for $70 with a full rebuild and testing. Currently he is out of the 703s (the ones you need for your year) but he should be getting some more here soon. His name is 831xj

Thanks for the info. Also are the aftermarket ones like on ebay something I should steer clear of? And could you tell a difference in fuel mileage as well as performance?

I would definitely steer clear of the ones on ebay, especially ebcause of their price. I think I checked once and they wanted to charge me $100/injector (784s).
I haven't actually installed mine yet, I'm actually waiting on the shipment right now. From the research I have done, there is quie a bit of increase. It depends on many facotrs but I've heard a minimum of 1 mpg more up to about 4 mpg more.

When getting jy injectors get ones that are clean on both ends avoid one with drops of fuel on ends or brown stains. Pull more than 6 then pick the best 6 . And cleaning them is a plus but theres many her that have just put new o rings on them and were fine. New o rings is deff a must. And must have 703 in the numbers on the side.

Thanks. Is Neon the only vehicle that runs 703s? But if I could get injectors cheap, then how much are rebuild kits typically? I have also sent 831xj a message.

Use Dodge Neon injectors. P/N 0280155703 for 98 and older XJs and P/N 0280155784 for 99-01 XJs. The 703 injectors can be had from any 95-97 Dodge Neon, Caravan, Grand Caravan, Stratus, or Plymouth/Chrysler Breeze, Voyager, Grand Voyager, Cirrus, or Sebring with the 2.0L or 2.4L 4 cylinder engines.

I suggest installing them in the XJ before you rebuild, not all need to be rebuilt. It takes about 20 minutes.
New O- rings (coated with some motor oil) are a good idea. You can get them from Mr. Injector (rebuild kits too) or other vendors on the web.
Stay away from Auto Zone, Advance.....they want more than $1 per O-ring. You can get a complete rebuild kit for 6 injectors for $25-$30 shipped.
