Front inner fenders
Front bumper end caps off and inner fenders pulled. Living where it rains & snows, should I be concerned with this opening?
I realize I can trim the front of inner fender, but trimming the fender is in the future. From the looks of many of your rigs, it looks likes a lot of you run without them.

Most of us concerned about corrosion in there stuff a pool noodle in as tight as we can. That has helped me, but then again I have only had it that way for one winter. But in Salt Lake City, one winter is like 5 of many areas due to the amount of salt poured on our roads.
I have considered modifying my splash guard to somehow mount up in there even with trimmed fenders.

or you can just cut the plastic inner fender well like I did it works really well. it gives it a better stock look and feel and also all you have to do is replace the push plastic things that you can get from the help section at autozone

I painted the inner door jam first with rustoleum. then shoved the pool noodle in and used bed liner over top of that. I check it once a week. and its all good.
The problem with using expanding foam is that it holds water. which over time could cause its own issues. just sayin.

Honestly the inner fender will be more of a problem over time than not having it, as long as you wash it well. Inner fender liners trap salt, dirt and water that you can't clean because you can't see. Having it open allows you to clean it better. I suggest the pool noodle, or there are stock foam pieced cut in the right shape to fit in you can try the stealership or rockauto, I know my 96 had 'em when I pulled the liners...

^^^It still has the stock foam inserts, but they don't like staying put when driving after the inner fender liner is out. Ha! I didn't know the insert was there until I went for a drive, then was tinkering in the front wheel well and saw something hanging out of the fender.
So it sounds like a good cleaning, POR it, then jam a noodle in there should do the trick. POR makes a rubberized spray I was thinking of spraying the wells with. I'm going to be rolling POR-15 on as much of the undercarriage as possible, and was thinking of hitting some spots like wheel wells and under rockers with the rubberized stuff.
Should I be concerned with salt/mud being flung into the few openings through the well into the engine bay?

Its been a year and I haven't put anything in that space. Like many have said the pool-noodle is a common fix for that area. I myself just spray the area out every time I wash it and keep an eye on it, I'm not worried as of yet.

i put the foam covering for winterizing pipes its like a pool noodle. a pool noodle cost like .99 or somthing like that. if you ever remove the doors it will stop mud from spraying you while wheelin also and drafts with doors on also
