So we took the 88 out playing today and in 4H the front end would make a click noise when turning. Where would do I start looking for any parts that would be going bad? It does have a 4.5" short arm RC lift and all new steering components, with 33" MTRs.
If it only does it while turning left or Right then it must be the Front U-joints. get underneath and move the front passenger and driver axle shafts. If there is any play at all then they are bad. you may need a pry-bar to move them around. Also do you have the vac. actuator on that dana 30? if you do then it could be the coupler inside not engaging the shafts all the way and causing the clicking sound. I would check the u-joints first though.
Mostly likely ujoints and if theyve been worn long enough like mine have and havent had time to replace them yet ive bought all the parts, you also might want to look at the wheelbearings, you have to remove the whole hub to change the ujoints anyways so easyier to throw in a new hub too correct me if iam wrong

one thing that hasnt been mentioned yet and is whats wrong on my 88 right now. It may be the bushing on the track bar needs to be replaced. i had my buddy look under the front to see if he could see what was making the popping noise when i turned and he said the axle side of the track bar was moving, so my bushing was shot... I still need to go get that replacement and instal it..lol
But the OP said it was a clicking not a pop and i had the track bar bushing go on mine it would pop only when turned so far but the clicking happens only when the wheel is in motion if im correct thus bein it turning the ujoint to cause a clicking noise
