front control arm mount ripped off the axle
I recently purchased a 93 xj with a 3 inch lift on it and the lower control arm was torn off the axle when i got it, is there a company who makes these mounts ready to weld on or do i have to fab up new ones myself , lovin the xj jeeps rock
:icon_lol: |
if you have the resources to fab it up i would do both LCA brackets, and box them in for a stronger bracket, that's my 2 cents
|
Rustys offroad has 1/4" thick mounts ready to weld on. I have them on my jeep and they aren't going anywhere. I got the jeep speed ones so that i don't need a cammed bolt or whatever

Soo not to dig up an old thread but
I picked up this sweet 01 XJ w/69K on it. Sounds all god but it only was driven on sheisty NY roads in crqppy weather it's whole life. So the front end started acting weird making strange noises, thought it was something to do with the brakes, took a look under the front bumper and this is what I saw. Ugh! Attachment 318242 So I found aftermarket hd brackets and am wondering if I need straight or offset ones. If the latter how many *? I don't think I need ones with those cam bolt shapes on them, right? |
Straight, non cammed, you need 2 so you can replace both lowers
|
And don't drive anywhere until it's fixed.
|
The OEM ones weren't much to begin with I also have the ones from Rustys Off Road on mine.
|
I would look at Ruffstuff. Nothing but quality products.
|
Wouldn't be a bad idea to check everything over real good. These Cherokees can handle a lot, except rust is what kills them.

polyperformance has some nice LCA brackets, so does ruffstuff.
Actually the XJ ones are offset, mine are the 5 degree ones. Since they are offset they do make "left" and "right" ones. So, you need one of each. IIRC, the poly ones are only 15$/ea plus the ride. If you contact Tommy@polyperformance.com tell him Jeremy D sent you. |

So which is it, 5* or 0*?
Fortunately I put my other XJ, in my avatar, back on the road 2 weeks before that mount ripped off. Heres a pic of the jeep, I hadn't realized how krusty it was underneath. I took a peek under saw the rocker is going to need some tube installed but the interior and exterior was so mint, miles so low, I paid $2500. So even with the deficiencies and d35 axle it was still a no brainer, from the original owner and a stack of receipts. Attachment 318184 |

0* is fine. Barnes has them for $22.34. BrianHO13 on here can get a better price, as he is a vendor. PM him.
